Cataract.

Cataract is one of the most common eye conditions and is likely to be the leading cause of blindness worldwide. A person who suffers from Cataract will experience reduced vision and a ‘clouding’ in a typically clear lens. Like most other eye conditions, Cataract can develop in a person even before any symptoms present, therefore regular eye checks are important to detect any developing conditions.

Cataract is the more visible disease, which causes a normally black pupil to develop a grey, cloudiness as the cataract develops.

Although Cataract is usually considered an aging disease, it is not always the case. Some children can be born with Cataract and it can also be caused eye trauma, sunlight exposure, diabetes and other disorders.

The Fred Hollows Foundation suggests to look out for the following symptoms:

  • Glare sensitivity

  • Blurry vision

  • Faded colours

  • Reading difficulties

If you experience any of these symptoms, give us a call to book a BULK BILLED consultation with out Optometrist.
